The Haircut

The Haircut
Sculpture with barber's chair, scissors, dental floss, and a piece of the curator's cat, by M. Jackson and J. Reilly
By special commission for MOBA opening

Mining the swirling currents between violence and personal hygiene, this piece captures the fear, the horror, and the hope intrinsic in that most mundane of human activities.

Additional Information
The Haircut is possibly the most interactive piece in the MOBA permanent collection. The notice on the seat below the scissors reads: "If you must leave a lock of your hair, please return the scissors to the center of the seat." It is estimated that one in five visitors to the gallery donates a lock.
